Vin Diesel Offers Succinct, Three-Word Update on Feud With Dwayne Johnson

Vin Diesel has given an update, of sorts, following his awkward shoutout to his longtime frenemy Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at the Golden Globes on Sunday. And if anyone was concerned about the state of affairs between the two alpha males, it seems that everything is A-OK; for now, at least.
While presenting the award for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement during Sunday’s telecast (which ultimately went to Wicked), Diesel acknowledged his The Fast and the Furious franchise costar sitting in the audience with a stilted, “Hey Dwayne.” The cameras quickly panned to document Johnson’s reaction, who was seen smiling and laughing. Though, it was unclear whether his demeanor was genuine or if he was playing nice for the telecast.
However, on Tuesday, Diesel seemed to unequivocally put any further rumors of tension between himself and Johnson to rest. Posting an image of the pair at the 2011 Rio de Janeiro premiere of Fast Five to Instagram, the 57-year-old wrote, “All love… Always…” The gesture was cosigned by their Fast & Furious co-star Ludacris, who responded simply with two crown emojis and two saluting face emojis.
Johnson joined the action film franchise with Fast Five and went on to appear in the sequels Fast & Furious 6 in 2013, Furious 7 in 2015, and The Fate of the Furious in 2017; as well as the 2019 spinoff, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.
However, rumblings of a feud between the two stars surfaced in 2016 when Johnson called out a “chicken s–t” and “candy ass” co-star on Instagram, leading to speculation that he was referring to Diesel. For years, the two men traded sometimes thinly-veiled barbs (and sometimes a bit more direct ones) in the media. And despite the fact that Johnson told CNN in December 2021 that he was done with the franchise for good, he turned up in a mid-credits scene in 2023’s Fast X.
