Did Bill Hader and Ali Wong Break Up? Here’s the Truth

After Bill Hader didn’t walk the 2025 Golden Globes red carpet with his girlfriend Ali Wong, the Saturday Night Live alum shut down rumors that it was because the couple had called it quits.
Bill Hader will always be Ali Wong‘s definitely.
After he didn’t walk the red carpet alongside the Beef star at the 2025 Golden Globes, the Saturday Night Live alum shut down speculation that it was because the couple had called it quits.
“Bill was not able to attend the Globes due to a pre-existing eye condition that flared up and he was advised by his doctor to stay home and rest,” a rep for Bill told People Jan. 10. “He and Ali are still together.”
Ali and Bill—who dating briefly in 2022 before rekindling their romance in April 2023—fueled breakup rumors after Ali posed alone on the Golden Globes red carpet earlier this month and didn’t thank him while accepting the award for Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television for her performance in the Netflix special, Single Lady.
“I come from San Francisco, and that’s where I started doing stand-up,” she said during her speech at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles Jan. 5. “And I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for all the stage time that I got there and all the practice I got to become a stand-up comedian.”
Following her speech—which also included shoutouts to SF Punchline Comedy Club member Molly Schminke and her best friend Mia Serafino—fans began questioning whether the pair had parted ways, especially considering they had a PDA-filled date night at the ceremony in 2024.
“Isn’t Ali Wong dating Bill Hader?” one user wrote on X Jan. 5. “Did they break up or is he busy? Weren’t the together all last year? #GoldenGlobes.”

Another added, “Ali wong win and bill hader is still nowhere to be found.”
And while Ali—who announced her breakup from ex-husband Justin Hakuta in April 2022, six months before sparking romance rumors with Bill—addressed their current relationship status, she has previously detailed the grand gesture Bill made before they started dating.
“I get a phone call from this guy who I met at a dinner party in the past, and he got my number from a mutual friend,” the Always Be My Maybe actress explained during her May 2024 Netflix Is a Joke Fest show, per Rolling Stone. “He was like, ‘Hey, I just happened to hear the news about your divorce, and I’ve had a crush on you forever. I actually told my best friend years ago that you were my dream girl, and I know it sounds crazy, but I want you to be my girlfriend.'”
